Where to hold a seminar in Marseille? Venues compared

What kind of seminar are you organising?

Before comparing venues, decide on the room layout. It changes everything: a room that holds 100 people theatre-style (rows of chairs facing the screen) often takes only 40 in a U-shape and 60 for workshops. Venues give their capacities by layout; always ask for the one that matches your programme.

• Management committee, working meeting (10 to 30 people): a U-shaped or round-table room, quiet, with daylight.
• Team seminar (30 to 100 people): a theatre-style plenary, then breakout workshops, ideally in side rooms or on a terrace.
• Convention or plenary (150 people and more): an auditorium or conference centre, a sound and video control desk, microphones for audience questions.
• Seminar with an evening event: the same venue (or one nearby) so you can go straight from the working day to cocktails without a transfer.

Which seminar venues are there in Marseille, and for how many people?

Sea-view seminar: which rooms on the Corniche and at the Old Port?

It is the most frequent request, and Marseille answers it well. On the Corniche, the Espace Soleil at the Cercle des Nageurs is a 150 m² room that is already equipped: built-in sound system, video projector, screen, two wireless microphones, tables and chairs. That is a real advantage for a one-day seminar: there is little technical equipment left to add.

A few minutes’ walk away, the Rowing Club, at the entrance to the Old Port facing the Mucem, offers two seminar rooms (120 m² and 60 m²) and a rooftop for lunch or end-of-day cocktails. On the other side of the harbour entrance, the Mucem combines meeting rooms, an auditorium and terraces, with the option of a private tour of the exhibitions to give the day a breather.

How much does a seminar room cost in Marseille?

For a sea-view room for 80 people, hire generally costs between €800 and €1,700 a day, according to the rates published by venues on the Corniche. Prestige venues cost more: at the Mucem, hiring a lounge starts at around €1,600 for the day. Most venues also offer day-delegate packages per person (room, breaks, lunch), which are easier to compare.

• Check what is included: video projector, screen, microphones, internet connection, flipcharts, water.
• Ask about half-day hire: many venues offer it, which is handy for a management committee.

What should you check before booking?

1. Access: metro and tram for the Old Port, the Mucem and La Joliette; bus and car for the Corniche, where parking is limited. Think of participants arriving from Saint-Charles station or the airport.
2. Daylight and quiet: a windowless room quickly becomes tiring over a full day.
3. Additional spaces: where will the workshops, breaks and lunch take place?
4. Technical set-up: electrical power, real wifi (not just advertised), sockets near the stage.
5. Timings: access time for setting up, finishing time, whether you can continue into an evening event.
6. Accessibility: lift, wheelchair-accessible parking spaces, adapted toilets.

What if the venue has no technical equipment?
