Incentives in Provence: rewarding your sales teams

An incentive is not a seminar in disguise: it is a reward. Your best salespeople have hit their targets and they expect a moment that suits them, between the sea, the Calanques and the wine estates of Provence.

In brief

ADJM Événementiel organises incentives in Marseille and Provence to reward sales teams: a boat trip in the Bay of Marseille and to the Frioul islands, team activities, dinner and an awards ceremony. A cocktail workshop costs €70 per person and full-day photo coverage €890; the rest of the programme is priced on quotation. Evenings at sea welcome 35 to 250 people depending on the boat.

  • A programme with no meetings

Activities, good meals and free time: an incentive rewards, it doesn’t train.

  • Provence as the backdrop

The Bay of Marseille, the Calanques, the wine estates around Aix: places your teams won’t forget.

  • Awards with a sense of occasion

Music, lighting, cold sparks and a photographer for presenting prizes to your top salespeople.

  • A plan B for every activity

Mistral, rain or rough seas: every outdoor activity has a fallback option built into the quote.

  • A coordinator for both days

Timings, transfers, suppliers: a single contact from your teams’ departure to their return.

What is an incentive and what is it for?

An incentive is a trip or a day offered to employees, most often salespeople, to reward results. It serves three purposes: thanking those who hit their targets, making others want to qualify next year, and retaining people your competitors are courting. It can also bring together your best distributors or partners. The golden rule: participants must feel it is for them. A three-hour plenary on the quarter’s figures turns a reward into an obligation.

How does a two-day incentive in Provence run?

Here is an outline we adapt to the size of the group and the season:

  1. Day 1, late morning: welcome at Saint-Charles station or the airport, lunch facing the sea.
  2. Day 1, afternoon: a cocktail workshop with a bartender or a team activity, then free time at the hotel.
  3. Day 1, evening: boarding at around 7.30pm on the Old Port, drinks in the bay, dinner at anchor off the Frioul islands, DJ on board, back around midnight.
  4. Day 2, morning: company olympics or Survivor-style challenges (Koh-Lanta) on an estate near Aix.
  5. Day 2, lunch: awards ceremony, group photo, departure in the early afternoon.

What budget should you plan for an incentive?

An incentive budget is built item by item. Transport and accommodation, often the biggest items, are usually booked separately or with your travel department. For the rest, here are benchmarks seen in Marseille and our own prices:

ItemBenchmark or ADJM price
Sea-view room for a half-day meeting€800 to €1,700 per day (market)
Turnkey evening (venue, catering, drinks, entertainment)€65 to €130 per person (market)
Cocktail workshop with a bartender€70 per person
DJ Prestige with sound and lightingfrom €599
Full-day photo coverage€890
Boat trip, company olympics, casinoon quotation

An agency generally adds 6 to 10% in management fees to the budget. Our artists, bartenders and technicians are part of our network: no middleman margin on these items.

What mistakes should you avoid?

  • An overloaded programme: keep at least two hours free each day.
  • Sporting activities that leave part of the group out: always offer an alternative.
  • Forgetting the after-party: arrange journeys back to the hotel if alcohol is served.
  • Announcing the winners too late: the motivating effect also comes from the anticipation throughout the year.
  • Awards with no sense of occasion: the presentation is the moment people talk about afterwards.

Your questions

What is the difference between an incentive and a seminar?

A seminar brings teams together to work; an incentive rewards them. An ADJM Événementiel incentive includes few or no meetings: activities, meals, an evening party and an awards ceremony.

How long does an incentive last?

From one day to three days. Around Marseille, a two-day format with one night on site allows for a boat trip, a team activity and a proper evening party.

How much does an incentive in Marseille cost?

Excluding transport and accommodation, a turnkey evening costs €65 to €130 per person in Marseille. At ADJM Événementiel, a cocktail workshop costs €70 per person and full-day photo coverage €890.

What happens if the sea is too rough?

The boat trip is replaced by the land-based activity set out in the quote. We follow the marine forecast in the days before and make the decision with you the evening before or on the morning.
