Successful karaoke doesn’t depend on the singers’ talent. It depends on pace. A queue that drags, a crackling microphone, three ballads in a row, and the room switches off. On the other hand, a host who keeps things moving, suggests duets and picks songs everyone knows turns the room into a choir.

• Start with a group, not a soloist: a whole team on a crowd-pleasing hit breaks the ice.
• Limit songs to one verse and one chorus when the queue gets longer.
• Alternate karaoke and dance floor in sequences of 20 to 30 minutes.

What does the €190 karaoke package include?

The karaoke package is added to a DJ service. It includes a computer with the Karafun catalogue, 4 wireless microphones and set-up. The sound system is the DJ’s: karaoke goes through the same control desk as the party music, with no duplicated equipment.

Many reception venues already have a screen or a projector. We check with the venue what is available before offering you the option, so you don’t hire equipment that is already on site.

Where should the karaoke go in the room?

The screen must be visible to the singer and to the room. Ideally, a screen facing the audience, with a small monitor for the singer, and a clear space in front of the DJ’s control desk. Avoid putting karaoke in a separate room: it empties. It works when it is at the heart of the party, next to the dance floor.

Which events is it for?

Karaoke suits end-of-year parties, afterwork drinks, works council evenings and residential seminars, in the evening, when teams get together among themselves. For a more formal gala, choose a live saxophonist or a music quiz, easier to fit into a timed running order.
