How does live caricature entertainment work?

The caricaturist sets up at a fixed station, with an easel or a small table, or moves between guests with a drawing board. The guest sits down, the artist observes, exaggerates a feature, a smile, a hairstyle, and often adds a touch of context: their job, their favourite sport, the company’s flagship product. A few minutes later, the portrait is ready.

Caricature works because it is good-natured. A good event caricaturist exaggerates without hurting, and knows how to adapt their style to a managing director as well as an intern. It is worth checking by looking at their drawings before you book.

How many portraits in one evening?

The pace depends on the artist’s style: a black-and-white portrait in felt-tip pen is quicker than a colour portrait or a full-length drawing. With a single caricaturist, not every guest at a 150-person party will be drawn. Two options: extend the artist’s time, or add a second artist. How much does a caricaturist cost for an event?

The price depends on how long the artist is present, the format (paper or digital) and the prints. As a benchmark, a Marseille agency charged around €1,250 for a caricaturist at a corporate party.
